But, above all else, a man of great spiritual depth, a worshiper! Bishop Brooks has rendered a lifetime of devoted service to the people of God, and to the ministry of God's holy church. He is the Founding Pastor of New St. Paul Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in Detroit, Michigan, where he has served for over 54 Years; and, since 1975, the presiding prelate of the Historic First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Michigan, commonly known as Northeast Michigan Jurisdiction. In 1984, and each quadrennial since, the Lord has honored Bishop Brooks' dedication and loyalty to His work through the favor of men, by elevating him to the presidium of the Church of God in Christ, Inc., the largest African-American Pentecostal Denomination with an estimated 6.5 million members in over 59 countries. He now serves the Church as the Second Assistant Presiding Bishop. IN HIS LOCAL CHURCH MINISTRY: Bishop Brooks established the March of Faith Telecast and Radio Ministry, which have ministered to countless millions across the nation in their homes, hospital rooms and behind prison bars for nearly 3 consecutive decades. Always the innovator, Bishop Brooks was the first among his peers on the General Board to establish a presence for his local church and Jurisdiction on the World Wide Web. He was among the first to broadcast his Sunday Morning Worship Services via the Internet in a Live Web Cast every Sunday morning. |

Bishop Brooks' compassion for all of God's children, and his obedience to the move of the Holy Ghost has caused him to expand his local church ministry into the areas of education, senior housing, food programs and other community outreach programs. He is the founder of the Grandmont-Rosedale Christian School and Day Care. He is the president of the New St. Paul Non-Profit Housing Corporation, a Community Development Corporation responsible for the building of Faith Manor Senior Citizens Apartments on the campus of New St. Paul Tabernacle. Under his visionary leadership New St. Paul Tabernacle distributes 100's of Thanksgiving baskets to needy families each year, offers tutorial services to students, and provides business incubator programs to foster entrepreneurship. In 1996, he recorded and produced the first "Bishop P.A. Brooks and New St. Paul Tabernacle Live in Praise" CD and Cassette Tape. A must for personal Praise & Worship, the "Live In Praise" CD has wrought numerous testimonies of healing, comfort, and even marital reconciliation. In 2005, he recorded and produced "Bishop P.A. Brooks and New St. Paul Tabernacle Alive in Praise 2", the much anticipated follow-up to Live In Praise. AS A JURISDICTIONAL BISHOP: Bishop Brooks is the third-longest serving Church of God in Christ bishop in the 93 year history of the State of Michigan, and the senior Bishop in the mid-west region, including Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana and Ontario, Canada. He was consecrated Jurisdictional Prelate of Northeast Michigan Jurisdiction in 1975 by the late Presiding Bishop J.O. Patterson, Sr. During his tenure, his programs and initiatives have benefitted laity and clergy alike. His latest contribution is the formation of the first black-owned Mortgage Company in the Church of God in Christ, Faith Community Mortgage LLC. It is another example of how he continues to work for the strength and credibility of the Church of God in Christ both regionally and nationally. Bishop Brooks established the nation's first Blue Cross/Blue Shield Program for local pastors, Life Insurance for local pastors and a Compensation Program for widows of local pastors. He lead the Jurisdiction in purchasing and renovating Northeast Michigan's jurisdictional headquarters, Cathedral Conference Center. He is directly or indirectly responsible for purchasing, financing, renovating, or building new churches for over 50 pastors within the jurisdiction. BISHOP P.A. BROOKS, II: Bishop Brooks is the co-author of "Understanding Bible Doctrine as Taught In The Church of God In Christ," the Textbook/Study Guide which brings to life the many Bible truths that are the foundation of the Church of God in Christ. "Understanding Bible Doctrine" is widely used across the nation as a pre-requisite for Ordination Candidates, and is now available in Spanish. From 1984-1997, Bishop Brooks donated all proceeds from the book to the National Church. AS A NATIONAL CHURCH LEADER: Bishop Brooks, for 23 years, has been blessed to serve the people of Lord as a member of the Presidium of the Church of God in Christ, Inc. First elected in 1984, Bishop Brooks is now serving in his sixth term. On April 11, 2007, Bishop Brooks was promoted to the Office of Second Assistant Presiding Bishop of the Church of God in Christ, Inc. by Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake, Sr. A trusted servant of the church, during his tenure as a member of the General Board: he was elected and served as Secretary to the General Board; he has been appointed as the Interim Bishop in 12 Different States (Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania); Chairman of the General Board Committee on Leadership Training of New Bishops for the Church of God in Christ; and he is an advocate for Missions, supporting work in Africa, Haiti, Asia, and South America. Bishop P.A. Brooks was the very first Chief Adjutant of the Church of God in Christ (14 years), serving the General Board and the Presiding Bishop. His other national credits include, but are not limited to: - Proposed and coordinated the Church of God in Christ's first live nationwide web cast event which provided the opportunity for thousands to gather at more than 200 venues in the U.S. and abroad to celebrate the Homegoing of Presiding Bishop G.E. Patterson (March 2007). - Chairman, Board of Directors, C.H. Mason Scholarship Foundation - Board Member, Saints Center - Chairman, National Youth Congress Steering Committee - Secured Patent and Copyrights on Bishop C.H. Mason's Official Portrait on file at the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C. - Produced First National COGIC Television Special. AS A WIDELY RESPECTED CHURCH & COMMUNITY LEADER: Bishop Brooks served for 12 years as a Member of the Board of Directors of First Independence Bank; and serves on the Board of Directors for the famed Museum of African American History based in Detroit, Michigan. On May 6, 2004, at its 76th Commencement Exercises, Lewis College of Business awarded Bishop Brooks an honorary doctorate degree in recognition of his humanitarianism and civic contributions. Bishop Brooks delivered the commencement address. On October 21, 2006, Bishop Brooks was Inducted into the International Gospel Music Hall of Fame and Museum as a result of his contributions to the field of music in years past as a musician, and Music Department President, and presently, a worshiper.
